For Irish citizens, that authorisation is the eVisitor 651: it allows tourism or business, stays of up to 3 months per entry and is valid for 12 months. It is granted by the Australian Government (Department of Home Affairs).
There are no direct flights from Dublin to Australia, so you'll connect through a hub: Dubai (Emirates), Doha (Qatar Airways), Abu Dhabi (Etihad) or via London and Singapore. Total journey time is usually around 20–24 hours. Book the visa first — your eVisitor is verified electronically at check-in, whichever airline you fly.
